The August 2023 versions of SheepShaver 2.5 - With Mac Classic 9 - for Windows or Mac Systems.
The OLD Versions still work. But a Year and a Half Later, in August of 2023 - I updated the binary files to the Newest, Updated Versions! I could NEVER get QEMU to emulate System 9 - but Sheepshaver Just Works: Right Out-of-the-Box!
BE SURE to check the “Ignore Illegal Memory Accesses” checkbox in the
Miscellaneous tab, in SheepShaver settings, when starting it up for the
first time. This can help prevent many crashes.

I just swapped in the newest Executable File, and recompressed the Archive - it is untested. This version handles framebuffering differently - Leave a Remark if it does not work.

The 3 Macintosh versions of SheepShaver cover Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) - to macOS 13 (Ventura) now. These were untested (I Updated Binaries - left supporting files alone) - Leave a Remark if something is wrong with them.

This part was left unchanged - from February of 2022:
This is the Archive of my SheepShaver Folder, from my Applications Folder.
The Macintosh Version of SheepShaver (Version 2.5) works on Mac OS X 10.9 through Mac OS 11.2 ... with Intel OR ARM Hardware. OS 9 Classic (9.0.4) is installed on the capacious disk image.
System Specs: This is a PowerMac 9500 Series [New World ROM] with an 8 GB Hard Drive / 512 MB RAM / using a G4 PPC Processor running at 100 Mhz.
The "Install 9" archive has this same archive, and a document that attempts to walk you through the initial parameter's setup steps, zipped up together in a folder. If you have never set up the SheepShaver Emulator before ... this archive might be the one you are looking for.
All Files were downloaded from
OR From
or from https://macintoshgarden.org/ or https://www.macintoshrepository.org, or even from archive.org's Classic Mac software archives themselves.
I merely assembled / setup / tested / and zipped up a few of them together. Then I uploaded this system backup for safe keeping.
If you are in need of the Macintosh Classic System 9 (PPC) - to run on Windows, OR your INTEL or M1 Macintosh System - this is a "Turnkey" solution to set that up the first time, and to use after that.
A Setup Guide to refer to is here:
(95% of this has been done already: you just need to set it up, on it's first run.) ____________________________________________________________________________________
Just Added: The Archive named sheepshaverwindows.zip is the SheepShaver Folder from my Windows 10 system ... Zipped up. This Archive runs Mac Classic System 9.0.4 in a Window on your Windows System. The Size of the built in Hard Drive Image is only 2 GB in the Windows Versions (8 GB on Mac) - but otherwise the Emulated System Specs are the Same as the Mac Version. It still thinks it is a 100 Mhz G4 PowerMac 9500 with 512K RAM onboard.

You can't run SheepShaver on MacOS 14 - It only works up to Ventura (OS 13).
I think I have a clue: when you do the first run BE SURE to check the “Ignore Illegal Memory Accesses” checkbox in Miscellaneous tab in SheepShaver settings when starting it up for the first time.

Known issues
All 2018 and later builds
Crash at startup
On some host machines and/or with some configurations in the installed Mac OS system, SheepShaver will crash during Mac OS startup. In the crash log you will then typically find a line that ends with “SIGSEGV”.
Most of these crashes can be prevented by checking “Ignore Illegal Memory Accesses” in Miscellaneous tab in SheepShaver settings as advised in the configuration directions above. When it is impossible to start SheepShaver because of the crash, you can move the startup volume temporarily to a different location. Then you can launch SheepShaver to the screen with blinking question mark and access Preferences/Settings.
Alternatively, you can find and remove the hidden preferences file to get SheepShaver to do the critical "First Setup" stage again: but that procedure is too lengthy for inclusion in a review.
These are the proper setup steps (I've done all of the first, hard, ones already and made a functioning boot volume) and you should know them well before continuing ... https://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/sheepshaver_mac_os_x_setup

This is exactly what I have been looking for. I have a Macbook Pro M1 and SheepShaver just closes, cannot get it to run. Any ideas?
